In the first half of the year, the output of integrated circuits in Guangdong increased by 80% year-on-year, accounting for 28.1% of the country

Recently, Wu Hong, a member of the Party group and deputy director of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, said that integrated circuit production rose against the trend, with the completion of a number of major integrated circuit manufacturing projects to reach production, the first half of 2023 integrated circuit production in Guangdong Province increased by 80%, the growth rate is higher than the national (0.1%)79.9 percentage points, accounting for 28.1% of national production.

In recent years, in order to accelerate the development of key core technologies in industries such as integrated circuits, new materials, industrial software, and high-end equipment, Guangdong is promoting projects such as "Guangdong Strong Core", accelerating the establishment of the second phase of the provincial semiconductor and integrated circuit Industry Investment Fund, and comprehensively building the third pole of China's integrated circuits.

According to the national deployment, Guangdong is strengthening the industrial layout, and has basically formed a "3+N" industrial pattern with Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Zhuhai as the core, driving the coordinated development of Foshan and Dongguan. At present, Guangdong is focusing on cultivating and developing strategic emerging industrial clusters of semiconductors and integrated circuits, and actively building the integrated circuit industry "four beams and eight pillars". A number of major production line projects have been laid out in high-end analog, compound semiconductor, MEMS sensor and other characteristic processes.

It is understood that Guangdong's integrated circuit industry provides core chip support for industrial clusters including a new generation of electronic information, smart home appliances, automobiles and other over one trillion yuan, and 20 strategic industrial clusters jointly raise the "backbone" of Guangdong's manufacturing province. In 2022, the revenue of Guangdong semiconductor and integrated circuit industry cluster exceeded 220 billion yuan, taking a solid step to build the third pole of China's integrated circuit.
