Semiconductor companies are cutting bonuses

发布时间 : 2023-09-27

According to Taiwan media reports, many semiconductor industry companies in Taiwan have started to cut bonuses and slow down the pace of hiring. Bonus reductions range from 30% to 50%.

As for the reduction in bonuses, most semiconductor companies believe that this is only a reflection of the current decline in semiconductor production.

In addition to Taiwan semiconductor manufacturers, international manufacturers have also reported slowing down recruitment and reducing bonuses. In July, semiconductor equipment giant ASML said it planned to slow hiring this year, largely because it added 10,000 employees last year and the chip industry will decline in the short term.

In March, people familiar with the matter said Apple had delayed bonus payments in some corporate units and stepped up cost-cutting efforts, a shift that will reduce the frequency of bonuses for some of the company's employees. In addition, Apple is limiting the hiring of more positions and leaving more jobs open when employees leave.

However, industry insiders predict that as the market recovers by the end of this year and early 2024, hiring will also return to normal. As industry leaders such as TSMC and ASE are still expanding production, the new plant will create more jobs.
